WiiWare fans may remember that one of the service's best games was also one of its first. LostWinds, developed by upstart company Frontier, was a beautifully designed, albeit short, side-scrolling adventure that made great use of the Wii Remote. Frontier has been hinting at a sequel ever since the game launched, and now, the latest issue of EDGE magazine reveals LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias is indeed in development exclusively for WiiWare. The game will once again feature the young Toku as its main protagonist, who now has the ability to switch the season from summer to winter and back to solve puzzles. Toku can also now swim, and can use the wind to create cyclones. The game also features a brand-new map and hint system.
No release date was announced by EDGE, but expect official word on the game's existence soon.

Along with Capcom's announcing today the ship date for Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, which is November 17 this year, they also announced that Gamestop would have an exclusive preorder bonus for the game, a t-shirt with the slogan "Let your Darkside Out," that doubles as a zombie mask when you pull it over your head properly. Let me repeat that.
This t-shirt turns you into a goddamned zombie. Seriously
One Million Travel to Wii Sports Resort [ Nintendo ]
According to Nintendo's internal tracking figures, sales of the Wii Sports Resort game have surpassed 1 million copies in the United States since its July 26 launch. Japan and Europe have also sold more than 1 million copies each since the title launched in their respective markets. The collection of 12 resort-themed sports activities is on its way to becoming another Nintendo "long-tail" title that sells steadily over an extended period of time as opposed to a single flash on its launch day.
Wii Sports Resort includes archery, Swordplay, table tennis, basketball, golf, bowling, Air Sports, Power Cruising, Frisbee, cycling, canoeing and wakeboarding. The game sells at a suggested retail price of $49.99 and comes bundled with a Wii MotionPlus accessory, which brings exacting precision to games that have been designed to use it.
Nintendo's internal sales figures also show that more than 2 million Wii MotionPlus accessories are now in the hands of consumers in the United States. That includes those bundled with Wii Sports Resort and Electronic Arts' Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10, as well as those sold separately at a suggested retail price of $19.99 each.

Gameloft today announced a multi-year licensing agreement with Interplay to develop, distribute and publish Earthworm Jim, a popular run and gun platform video game featuring an earthworm who dresses up in a Super Suit to fight evil. The game will make its way to WiiWare.
Initially released in 1994, Earthworm Jim's games garnered such a cult following that the character's popularity took him far beyond video games into an animated TV series, Toys and Comic books. Earthworm Jim centers around an ordinary earthworm who engages in normal worm activities- eating dirt, crawling and fleeing from hungry birds- that is until he comes across a high tech indestructible space suit. Jim takes refuge in the space suit while fleeing from hungry birds. The suit's powerful atomic particles cause him to grow and obtain newfound powers.

Pokémon HeartGold & SoulSilver Confirmed for NA [ Nintendo ]
The Pokémon Company International and Nintendo revealed today that Pokémon HeartGold Version and Pokémon SoulSilver Version for the Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi systems will be released in spring 2010 in the United States and Europe. These newest entries for the best-selling video game franchise were announced amid the biggest Pokémon video game event of the year and in front of the top Pokémon video game and trading card game players in the world at the 2009 Pokémon World Championships.

Capcom has officially announced that Spyborgs, the anticipated Wii-exclusive action-adventure, will be released on September 22nd. This moves the release up a week from its previous launch date of September 29th. What's more, the game will have an MSRP of only $39.99, $10 than your average Wii game, which isn't a bad deal.

Dinosaurs may be long gone from the earth, but for owners of the portable Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi systems, a new breed of prehistoric excitement is just now coming to life. With today's release of the Fossil Fighters video game, Nintendo is delivering a dino-sized gaming experience that fans of any age or background can pick up and enjoy.
Fossil Fighters invites players to enter a world in which fearsome creatures are hidden as fossils for players to collect, using the unique touch-screen controls of Nintendo DS. Players can clean, collect and battle their discoveries. The game features more than 100 dinosaur-like creatures called Vivosaurs, each of which can be revived and deployed in strategic turn-based battles. With fun tactical elements, vast environments to explore and a lighthearted storyline and characters, Fossil Fighters allows players to control and customize a team of Vivosaurs as they battle their way through the mysterious Vivosaur Island. Players can also connect over local wireless with friends to battle customized teams of Vivosaurs or trade their fossils.
Using the Nintendo DS stylus and touch screen, players can chip and drill away at each fossil they find. They can even blow into the Nintendo DS microphone to clear away dust. Once a fossil head is cleaned, the Vivosaur can be revived and used in battle. Other fossilized body parts can also be found and cleaned to imbue each Vivosaur with special powers. Players can create custom teams of three Vivosaurs, strategically selecting the best trio for each encounter.

Fans of Star Wars and classic Nintendo games will want to keep an eye on their Wii Shop Channel for the next month. Nintendo will be releasing multiple LucasArts favorites for Virtual Console, starting today with Super Star Wars. In the coming weeks, both Super Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Super Star Wars: Return of the Jedi will be added to the Virtual Console lineup. All three Super Star Wars games were originally released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System and will be available at 800 Wii Points each.
The arrival of the first three games will be accompanied by additional Star Wars-themed content on other Wii channels throughout the week. The Check Mii Out Channel will invite people to submit their best Mii character renditions of classic Star Wars characters. On the Everybody Votes Channel, users can cast their votes to help settle old debates, such as the proper order to watch the six Star Wars films, and who fired first - Han Solo or Greedo?
"Our expanded partnership with LucasArts brings the Star Wars and Nintendo universes together," said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "These three Super Star Wars games represent fantastic additions to the growing Virtual Console library, and the exclusive Star Wars content on the other Wii Menu channels is sure to have people from different generations having fun and interacting with one another."

Enclave Announced for Wii [ Village1 Entertainment ]
Today the German production house Village1 Entertainment officially announce workings on the project “ENCLAVE” for Nintendo Wii. Based on many requests from the fantasy community, Village1 Entertainment decided to support this exciting fantasy production. The Wii version is guaranteed to offer all features of former brand releases and will contain new features in addition to previous versions. Due to an experienced team the game is already in an advanced development stage and will prospective hit the shelves beginning of 2010.
“ENCLAVE” is a fantasy action epos charged with spectacular fights and many RPG elements. In the beginning the player takes control of a fearless knight fighting his way out of a mysterious fortress. While the player can switch between both First Person and Third Person Modus his goal is to defend the lone city of Celenheim from the dark Outlanders preparing to invade. Underlined with a dramatic Hollywood like soundtrack "ENCLAVE" is set to offer plenty of gaming hours.
During the game the player has the possibility to pick further characters as rogues, elves and magicians. Nintendo has provided staycations to thousands of people nationwide since the July 26 launch of its Wii Sports Resort game. More than 500,000 units of the game for the Wii console sold in the United States through Aug. 3, according to Nintendo's internal tracking numbers. The collection of 12 fun resort-themed sports lets players of all ages escape to a tropical island for some year-round summer fun. The game comes with one Wii MotionPlus accessory, which brings unmatched accuracy to games that have been specially designed for it.
"Through Monday we sold one copy of Wii Sports Resort roughly every 1.5 seconds continuously since it launched in the United States," said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "This tells us consumers were eagerly waiting to get their hands on these fun activities, and it's a great start for a game that will have long-lasting appeal."

Modern Warfare 2 is hitting a ton of platforms this year, but unfortunately, the Wii didn't seem to be one of them. That is, until...well, it still isn't, but there will be a Modern Warfare on Wii this year. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is a port of the classic Call of Duty 4, released in 2007, with added Wii Remote controls. The game is being worked on by Treyarch, who also developed the Wii versions of Call of Duty 3 and Call of Duty: World at War. It's set for release on November 10th, day and date with the launch of Modern Warfare 2.

Starting today, Nintendo DSi owners have even more ways to share their experiences with friends and family. Using an Internet-connected Nintendo DSi system and the Nintendo DSi Camera application, Facebook members can take pictures with either of the system's two cameras and upload their photos directly to their Facebook profile. This function will be available after 5 p.m. Pacific with a free downloadable system update.
While reviewing pictures they've stored in the Nintendo DSi Camera album, which includes photos taken by users and manipulated using the built-in interactive lenses, users can simply tap the Facebook icon on the system's touch screen to instantly transmit photos to the user's Facebook profile. The user's system must be configured to a wireless broadband Internet connection for the transmission of photos.
Nintendo DSi has sold more than 1.7 million units in the United States alone, according to the NPD Group. The third iteration of the world's best-selling portable video game system includes photo- and voice-manipulation features that allow users to customize their experiences like never before.
