Pokémon Galore for 2005 [ IGN DS ]
|
Tsunekazu Ishihara and Junichi Mazuda, heads of the Pokémon Company and Game Freak, respectively, have mentioned that 2005 will see lots of love for those wonderful little PokéCritters in Japan on the GCN, GBA, and DS. Mazuda comments that he will be able to put all of his power into the upcoming DS iterations in the franchise, Diamond and Pearl, and it will be something very different from the usual. The first screenshots for the GCN game were seen recently, though nothing else is known. The U.S. will also have its slew of games for 2005, so keep an eye out.

Camelot Working on New Surprise Title? [ Camelot ]
|
Camelot, developers of such Nintendo titles as Mario Power Tennis, Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour, and Golden Sun have announced plans for a new title for next year. Here's a loose translation of the announcement posted on the news page earlier today:
"From the start of the year we direct our attention to the new work, with a lot of various ideas. We cannot give any examples, but for those that are expecting things, get ready for a big surprise, and a bomb that will hit your living room next year, because what we have planned, next year we think everyone may enjoy."
So what could this new surprise title be? It's more than likely not the Mario Golf DS title which was confirmed by company heads a few months ago. Could this be the long-rumored 3rd Golden Sun game, possibly for the GameCube? Keep it here at the Café for more information as it breaks.

RE Horror has obtained new screens from what is apparantly a new trailer for Resident Evil 4. From the images, it looks like Leon will be battling in a knife fight against a new boss, plus there is an image of a new character who may or may not be the mysterious "Lord Sadler" referred to in the demo. Along with the release of these screens, there comes an interview with the event planner of RE4, Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, who sheds some light on the new boss battle:
"My favorite scene would have to be the knife fight. I think it really recreates the tension of a close-quarters knife fight. But at the same time, you can't just put down the controller and watch it to the end. When the enemy charges at Leon, you have to become Leon and dodge the attack. When Leon is putting up a fight, you have to put up a fight too. I don't want to spoil the fun, so I won't get into the details on how this actually works, but I can say that by the time the scene is over, your palms will be plenty sweaty-it's that tense. Cutscenes should be more than just downtime to watch the story progress. I think they can also be interactive and enjoyed as another part of the game. And I think this fight scene is a perfect example of this."
This "interactive cutscene" as it is called seems to be a really innovative way to add a sense of tension to the game. Resident Evil 4 will be released exclusively for the GameCube on January 11th.

Coming off of a powerhouse deal with the NFL for exclusivity rights for the next five years EA tried to see just how far their reach as the world's largest publisher can go. It seems apparent that they tried to gain exclusivity rights from the NBA as well this week but were not met with open arms like they were with the NFL. Reasons for this are most likely due to the fact that EA's basketball franchise NBA Live is not nearly as successful as the Madden franchise. Last week Take-Two voiced their concerned opinion about the EA/NFL deal. Midway also was not to happy about the deal and has defiantly announced that they will have their own unlicensed football game titled Blitz: Playmakers 2005 which will be a "more brutal form of football."

Japanese business magazine Shuukan Diamond has an article of extreme interest about the future of Nintendo in their latest magazine, dealing with Nintendo's next console, codenamed "Revolution". Interestingly enough, the magazine reports that the controller for the new console may be without a D-Pad or A and B buttons, Nintendo mainstays since the days of the NES. This looks to be pointed heavily towards the fact that Nintendo's Revolution seems to be just that, a console that will Revolutionize videogames, and the lack of a D-Pad or A and B buttons may be one of the factors leading to that. The magazine also states what we know already - the Nintendo Revolution will make its debut at the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo in May of 2005, and Gamecube Café, as they have been the past two years, will be there once again in order to give gamers the low-down on the Revolution as soon as the news breaks. Oh yeah, not to mention we're going to have a major surprise announcement dealing with the event as well. You can expect word on that in the coming months as we head closer to what may be the biggest E3 of them all.

Mortal Kombat: Deception GameCube Exclusives Revealed [ Nintendo Power ]
|
In an interview with Nintendo Power magazine, Ed Boon, director of Mortal Kombat: Deception, revealed the special extras that will be made exclusive to the GameCube version of the game - legendary bosses Shao Khan and Goro, fully playable! This adds great incentive to anyone considering picking the title up, in lew of the lack of online play. States Boon, "People have always wanted to control the boss characters in MK, and now we are giving them the chance to control two of the biggest, baddest bosses from any MK game." You'll be able to take control of these new characters when the GCN version of Mortal Kombat: Deception hits stores in early 2005.

Prince of Persia 2 Selling Like Hotcakes [ Ubisoft ]
|
Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, which released on December 2nd has sold astronomically its first two weeks on shelves. The game has already pushed 1.8 million units in North America on all platforms. That number is surely only to grow in the coming weeks but the Holiday season surely helped push the game. Prince of Persia: Sand of Time only sold through about a million copies total. So this is obviously a huge success that Ubisoft has on their hands. The changes that they made to this sequel surely enticed more gamers. This pretty much guarantees that there will in fact be another sequel to come (most likely on the next generation of consoles).

Nintendo of Japan announced today that they have received reports that several DS units, when playing the title Sawaru! Made in Wario (known in the states as Wario Ware Touched!), are experiencing errors when playing several mini-games. The errors only occur when played on certain DS units, so those that are not experiencing problems with the title as of yet most likely never will. Nintendo has already stated they will replace the titles free of charge beginning December 24th. The problems are outlined below.
Ma-me Denkyuu (Miniature Light Bulb)
The player is supposed to draw cords to connect a light bulb to a battery, but the cords can't be drawn.
Douka-sen (Fuse)
The player is supposed to draw a fuse between a bomb to a fire source, but the fuse can't be drawn.
Kurai Heya (Dark Room)
The player is supposed to find a man hiding in a dark room by shining him with a flashlight for a certain amount of time, but the flashlight keeps blinking and the game can't be completed.

Today our very own Chris Hofer turns 15. Chris joined the staff a while back on the good word of our IT Director AJ. Regardless of him being quite young his writing skills excel to those better than most people who have graduated from high school. Chris has become a real asset to the site and we hope his time here only gets better. So pop into the forums or chat and join in on the joint celebration of Chris and Marlow's birthday party. Happy Birthday Chris!

So today Matt Marlow turns 21. Marlow's been with us here since almost the beginning of the Café, but has been a close friend to myself and Silver for years before we had even considered doing this. We're not quite sure what Marlow does for us anymore; he just won't seem to go away. We're sure that whatever he does, he's doing a fairly decent job of it, since we haven't been slapped with any lawsuits with his name plastered all over them lately. Which is always a good thing. If you want to wish Marlow a happy big two-one, pop into the forums or chatroom. But don't bring beer. I'm writing this at about 11:30 am, and I'm fairly sure he's drunk already.

The Nintendo DS is proving a huge hit in both the US and Japan, with retail sales in North America alone having reached 1 million to date. In Japan, demand for the console is also huge and sell in has already hit 1 million units. All this within just weeks of launch! To meet the insatiable demand, Nintendo has increased total shipment figures to the US and Japan and now they will exceed 2.8 million by the end of 2004.
Jim Merrick, Senior Director European Marketing comments:
"The launch of Nintendo DS in the US and Japan has been hugely successful, with it having become a must have console, and we are looking forward to another successful launch in Europe." Look for it to launch across Europe with equally impressive sales figures in Q1 2005.

Last Minute Shipments for Nintendo DS [ Nintendo ]
|
As the countdown to Christmas continues, procrastinating shoppers will benefit from new shipments of Nintendo DS. Nintendo continues to supply stores with the dual-screened Nintendo DS, which features a touch screen, voice recognition and wireless capabilities. This week's shipments also will benefit people who want to spend the gift cards they received for the holidays.
Nintendo DS topped every major gift list this year, and was described by The Wall Street Journal as "this year's must-buy item." Nintendo's shipments will help meet this demand, even as eager holiday shoppers have snapped up 1 million Nintendo DS systems in North America in a month. Before the end of the year, Nintendo will have shipped 1.4 million Nintendo DS systems to North America alone.

Electronic Arts today announced an investment in international game developer and publisher UbiSoft Entertainment, headquartered in Rennes, France. The investment represents approximately 19.9 percent interest in the company -- shares purchased as a block from Talpa Beheer B.V. to be completed upon obtaining antitrust clearance from the U.S. government. Financial terms were not disclosed.
EA made waves earlier this month by acquiring exclusive rights to the NFL, and persuing other major sports such as the NBA and possibly MLB. UbiSoft most recently came out with Prince of Persia: Warrior Within. Its other big titles have included XIII and Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell franchise.

Santa Delegrates to Nintendo's Consumer Service Department [ Nintendo ]
|
Santa has a good gig. You'll notice that once he leaves his packages, he doesn't stick around to help you figure out how to work or play all your new gifts. Fortunately, Nintendo is here to help. During "Crunch Week," the week between Christmas and the new year, the Consumer Service Department at the Nintendo of America headquarters in Redmond, Wash., receives an explosion of inquiries. Consumers can ask questions about everything from details about cool new games like Metroid® Prime 2 Echoes for Nintendo GameCube or Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls for Game Boy Advance SP, to how to operate new Nintendo game systems like the Nintendo DS™ they received for the holidays.
During an average week, Nintendo responds to about 37,500 phone calls, 7,500 e-mails and 500 letters. But during the last week of December, the Consumer Service Department at Nintendo handles 90,000 inquiries. Here are a few fun facts about the department:
* As many large companies outsource their consumer-service jobs overseas, Nintendo serves consumers via in-house game-play counselors, consumer service representatives and online staffers. The Consumer Service Department at Nintendo increases its staff more than 60 percent during the peak of the holiday season. * Consumers get responses from real-live game experts. Game-play counselors have access to a vast library of information regarding more than 3,300 video games for all Nintendo systems at their fingertips. * Since the department began in 1985, Nintendo has helped more than 78 million people by phone and more than 3.2 million people through e-mail and letters.

Capcom Gears Up For Heavy Marketing [ Capcom ]

This latest title from the world renowned Resident Evil series will be the first Capcom game to make its appearance at the world famous New York Times Square, where promotional spots are scheduled to run on the NASDAQ building's jumbo monitor. The program will reach more than 20 million people during its scheduled run in the Christmas and New Year's time frame. In conjunction with this, an extensive television marketing campaign, which begins on December 27 and runs throughout January, will generate more than 170 million consumer impressions. Both these initiatives will support the overall marketing plan, which includes online programs, print and online advertising, as well as promotional and retail partnerships.
"A revolutionary title of this caliber deserves an equally significant marketing campaign," said Todd Thorson, director of marketing, Capcom USA. "With Capcom's debut in Times Square and the myriad other plans we have lined up, Resident Evil 4 will receive the most dynamic marketing campaign we have ever created."

The game will be developed by Radical Entertainment, developer of the previous game. Rather than last year's linear beat-em-up approach to the Hulk, The Incredible Hulk will be a much more open-ended experience, similar to Spiderman 2. The game will feature interactive backgrounds for the Hulk to destroy and make use of as weapons, plus plenty of missions and side-missions. The game will also have a storyline written by Marvel comics writer Paul Jenkins, and artwork done by Marvel artist Bryan Hitch. The Incredible Hulk will hit stores in Summer of 2005 with an MSRP of $39.99.

The games will be available in classic form with perfectly ported graphics and sound, plus a new "Graffiti" mode with graffiti style graphics by such artists as Obey Giant, Delta, and REAS. The game will also make use of the DS's wide variety of innovative features whenever possible, such as touch control, dual screens for a wider view, and wireless multiplayer. Expect the game to hit store shelves in March of 2005.

We here at the Café do a lot of video work and put up a lot of media that we get on our own and whatnot but this new RE4 video is from HappyPuppy and I want to make sure everyone knows that all the credit for it goes out to them regardless of it being hosted on the Café. So, now that that is over and done with. The following trailer is from a little further in the game then the E3 and Preview Disc demo ends. It shows off just how many "El Ganado" can attack you at once and how hard it can be to fend them off. It also shows off Leon and his badass sniper skills. You can either click the link and watch the trailer in any browser or right click and save it to your computer.

This trailer is not for the DS Yoshi game. Why was info of the same franchises released the same time but for two different games on two different systems? To confuse the hell out of us. Yoshi's Universal Gravitation has been released in Japan already and is scheduled to be released in North America on the GBA sometime next year. Not much info is known about the US version of the game except that just like the Japanese version, you screw around with the gravity via motion sensor. Sounds interesting enough, keep checking the Café for more updates on when this game will hit stores. I hope this isn't confusing or anything but this is the trailer for the DS game, not the GBA game that had a news post below. Wario makes his mad debut on the Nintendo DS with 180 all-new, factory-fresh microgames! WarioWare Touched! features all of the frantic five-second microgame action of the previous games, but with a touching new twist. You can play every microgame with the Nintendo DS touch screen, making it the perfect game for the system's unique touch-screen technology. Not only that, but you can even play some microgames with the Nintendo DS built-in microphone. Click the link below to watch the trailer in any browser, or right click and save it to your computer.

Yoshi's Touch & Go Screenshots [ Nintendo ]
|
Yoshi and Baby Mario are about to embark on another wild adventure - this time on the Nintendo DS. Using the Nintendo DS system's two screens and touch screen capability, you'll have to help Yoshi guard Baby Mario and guide him to safety. On vertical-action levels, players must use the stylus to draw clouds on the touch screen to protect Baby Mario from enemies and lead him to Yoshi. On horizontal side-scrolling levels, players must use the stylus to look out for Yoshi as he gallops across the countryside. On top of all that, Yoshi's Touch & Go also features two-player wireless play. Click the links for the screens.

NBA Street V.3 Starring....Mario? [ IGN Cube ]
|
On several retail sites, a strange, different boxart has been showing up for the upcoming GameCube release of NBA Street V.3. The Boxart looks to feature a small image in the corner with Mario, Luigi, and Peach, and reads "Featuring Nintendo's All-Stars". If this means what we think it does, then it looks as if that the GCN version of the game will have a special bonus team of Nintendo characters exclusive to the game. Want to have Mario bust out a dunk on Shaq? Would you like to see Luigi take on Kobe in the post? You will when NBA Street V.3 hits stores on February 8th, 2005. Check out the boxart in question below.

EA Makes Exclusive Football Deal [ Reuters ]

EA has signed a five-year contract with the NFL and its players. So pretty much this means that EA has the right to all of that in its football games on all platforms excluding mobile phones. It also means competition goes out the window from other football games. Now we get to watch as Madden starts to suck more.

Nintendo Dominates Japanese Sales (12/05) [ Media Create ]
|
These numbers are only through the fifth of December. The Nintendo DS had only been out three days and it completely dominated sales in Japan this week and this numbers for next week will be similar. The week after that the PSP will be released but with the small number of units available (under two hundred thousand). The handheld wars are surely about to begin. I have been posting Japanese sales numbers for over two years now, and I cannot remember when Nintendo dominated like this. Hopefully this trend can continue through the Holiday season and into 2005.

Having just picked up the RE4 Preview Disc the other night I had remembered that there was a new trailer on the disc. Having already played the actual demo (it is the same as the E3 demo) about twenty times I was looking forward to this new trailer more. While it shows some scenes of stuff we have already seen it mostly shows new parts of the game. Right click and save the video to your computer to view it. It is a little over three minutes long.

Lionhead Studios and Llamasoft have announced that Unity, the unique music-based action title for the Nintendo GameCube, has officially been cancelled. The game was in development from Tempest 2000 creator Jeff Minter, and had been in that phase for some time before the official announcement today. Lionhead Studios' director, Peter Molyneux, said the decision for the cancellation was because "it was becoming increasingly apparent to us that we would not be able to finish Unity in an acceptable time frame". Minter added later on his official website: "It's been a horrible decision for us to have to make, but in the end we've had to make it. Basically, although I've built a shedload of stuff for Unity in the past couple of years it's become clear that getting it all together into something that I'd be happy to call Unity and put my name to was going to take a lot of time and effort both from myself and the guys at Lionhead, and realistically it was becoming unlikely that it'd be finished in time for anyone to want to publish it on GameCube. The alternative would be a rush job and we simply didn't want to do that. Best to call it a day." It is sad to see another GameCube-exclusive title go down the drain.

Harvest Moon: Song of Happiness Announced for GameCube [ IGN Cube ]
|
Marvelous Interactive, developer behind the previous Harvest Moon titles for the GCN and GBA, has announced that they are currently at work on a brand-new Harvest Moon game exclusive to the GameCube. The game will be entitled Harvest Moon: Song of Happiness, and will have several added features, such as the fact that players can now choose your character to either be a boy or a girl. Expect the title to see Japanese stores sometime in 2005.
UPDATE: Thanks to chatroom member Eric Schwartzott, we have obtained scans from the latest issue of Famitsu which features the first images of this game. The style of the title looks very different than the usual Harvest Moon fare, and bears resemblence to Animal Crossing. Check out the scans below.

Looks like Nintendo is quite confident about not losing their status in the handheld market. At a meeting of the Foreign Correspondents Club in Tokyo recently, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata made clear that Nintendo is unthreatened by Sony's entrance into the handheld realm with the PSP.
Said Iwata, "In the US, sales has already hit one million units since the launch on November 21 and in Japan, it has reached 500,000 units just four days since the launch. To meet strong demand, we will ship 2.8 million Nintendo DS consoles by the end of December, about 800,000 units higher than we had initially targeted." Iwata stated that the DS's high sales proves Nintendo's prediction that fans do not want a more powerful product, but a more innovative one. It will continue to be Nintendo's goal in coming years to create innovations in gameplay rather than graphics in order to create a product more wanted by gamers.
"I believe that the PSP is built on the belief that the old formula for success is still viable, although we do not think so" continued Iwata. "Although we have no intention of fighting over the market share with Sony, we will make our utmost efforts to help people understand that our approach is right."
The Sony PSP will hit Japanese stores on December 12th, thus beginning the long-awaited war of the handhelds, at least in Japan. However, with Nintendo already having sold over 1 million DSes worldwide, it already looks to be quite the uphill climb.

Just because I love you guys so much, I'm going to take a few separate press releases that got sent to me and condense them into one easy news blurb. No need to thank me, the precious look on your faces is all the appreciation I need.
There's trouble in the jungle and Donkey Kong is here to help. A star in his own right, Donkey Kong is back to claim his title as King of the Jungle in DK King of Swing, as it launches on Game Boy Advance across Europe on 4th Februay 2005. In this swinging story, elements of platform and puzzle games are included and a unique control system let's you swing through the trees and spin to build up momentum for a mighty leap! The L and R buttons come in very handy in this game as they are used to control each of Donkey Kong's hands as he lunges from branch to branch.
This is not the only entrance Donkey Kong is making in Europe on that day, as Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat launches exclusively for Nintendo GameCube on 4th February 2005 too! Donkey Kong makes an eagerly anticipated return in this incredible platform adventure – using bongos! Grab a DK Bongos controller and guide Donkey Kong through wild jungle, snow and water brimming with enemies and challenging obstacles. Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat, exclusively for Nintendo GameCube launches across Europe on 4th February 2005 and is available bundled with its own DK Bongos. Donkey Kong also swings into Europe on the same day in DK King of Swing for Game Boy Advance.
Also in February, the world's number one plumber is back and this time it will be Game, Set and Match to Mario as he volleys onto the Nintendo GameCube in Mario Power Tennis on 25th February 2005. Can't Find a DS? Nintendo's Gotchya Back, Dawg [ Nintendo ]
|
Shoppers eager to find the new Nintendo DS can rejoice – at least for the time being. Nintendo today announced it will increase total shipments of Nintendo DS to North America by 40 percent, to 1.4 million systems before the end of the year. Due to the system's popularity, many retail stores across the country are reporting shortages, and the initial batch of 500,000 units all but sold out a week after Nintendo DS launched on Nov. 21.
To date, North American retail sales have reached 700,000. In addition, sales of Nintendo DS in Japan exceeded half a million systems in just four days after launch on Dec. 2, meaning more than 1.2 million Nintendo DS systems have sold through worldwide.
"Nintendo is doing everything it can to make Nintendo DS attainable for the holidays," says George Harrison. "The enthusiastic response from shoppers has made Nintendo DS 'must-have' – and we're determined to make it 'will have.' "
Expect this new shipment to be in stores in the coming days - and if you couldn't get your grubby hands on one of these little gems last time around, do anything you can to avoid making the same mistake again. Remember that the little kid who got there first wants it no more than you do (unless you are the little kid who got there first, in which case, best of luck).

Several places this morning are reporting that Nintendo and Capcom have released to the public a Resident Evil 4 demo disc available at Gamestop and EBGames. In order to get the disc you must do one of a few things. Either pre-ordering RE4, buying a Nintendo GameCube package, and/or buying an accessory (controller, memory card, etc). Right now this is just a rumor as it is only eight o'clock and game stores don't open until ten. I will update you on this later. The disc will contain the first level of the game (the E3 Demo) and several trailers about the Resident Evil backstory as well as a brand new trailer. If this rumor turns out to be fact look for those videos as well as perhaps a new playable video (of me kicking zombie ass) later tonight or sometime tomorrow.

Ubisoft has announced that one of their planned launch titles for the Nintendo DS, Rayman DS, has been pushed back to early 2005. It is now believed the game, which has been touted as a European DS launch title, will release in our shores at around the same time as the European DS launch. This delay is understandable, since only one screenshot has been released of this game to date, not to mention little to no information on gameplay or story.

According to Bloomberg, Nintendo has announced that the DS is selling just as well in Japan as it is doing in America. Just 4 days after it was released, Nintendo has reported sales figures of 513,000 units, which, combine with the U.S's current figures, add up to 1,000,000. With the PSP's launch in just one week, Nintendo has itself a pretty good head start on arguably the staunchest handheld competition they've seen.

Electronic Arts recently showed off what it was working on for the next generation of consoles which include the Nintendo Revolution (code name), Xbox Next (code name), and Playstation 3 (you have to love Sony's creativity) at the Credit-Suisse First Boston Technology Conference. They only showed two images but what they show off is immensely impressive. This first image is Need for Speed and the second is Madden. Now when I looked at these images I did not think they were videogame images. I thought that was a real Porsche driving on the road and I thought that it was just a still from a real NFL football game. If the next generation of consoles can do this, I stand corrected that the graphics of today's consoles couldn't get any better.
EA spokesman and CFO Warren Jensen had the following to say at the Technology Conference, "Imagine that the characters in a football [game] will be capable of showing real emotion," said Jensen. "That's what's going to be possible with the next generation of technology." I feel almost dirty saying this but with E3 less than six months away (time flies!) you can be sure that almost every developer and publisher will have at least something to showcase what they have in store for the next consoles. Once again of course, GCCafe will be on hand at E3 2005 (our third year) to bring you even more media and coverage than last year. Last year we had more exclusive video than any other FREE based Nintendo site out there. So you know this is the place to be. Stick around to catch all of our pre-coverage, live event coverage, and post-coverage. Oh yeah, did I mention we have an awesome killer surprise lined up for next year. Full details on that in early January.

PoP2 shipped across America on Tuesday, and should be in stores today (or yesterday, if you're lucky). Here's some info on how you'll be killing things, in the meantime.
EAGLE SWORD:
Deriving its name from the golden Eagle's talon that extends from its hilt, the weapon has been preserved by the Royal Family since it was first discovered, and it now belongs to the Prince – and it has served him well. It is always at his side. And while it can dispatch most foes with the greatest of ease, there remains one creature completely immune to its power: The Dahaka.
SPIDER SWORD:
Forged with intimidation in mind, this wide, dark blade is crowned with several small spikes, meant to represent the legs of a spider. In truth, the weapon is little more than a simple practice sword, dealing only moderate damage, owing to its inefficient design. Its original owner hoped that most enemies would only look upon the Spider Sword before submitting to him and his men.
SNAKE SWORD:
The Empress of Time forged this blade with her own hands. Its curved design is believed to allow for maximum damage, twisting and tearing at an opponent's wounds. Yet, the odd grooves and notches that adorn the blade hint at some mysterious dual purpose. It is kept in close proximity to the Throne Room, allowing her to maintain a constant vigil over it. Whatever the blade's secret, it is clearly of great importance to The Empress.
MENOG MACE:
When The Empress first began her experiments to create life on the Island of Time, she found she needed a way to keep her new creations from getting out of line. To help maintain order, she designed the Menog Mace. A simple, blunt weapon that delivers moderate crushing damage, its strength lies in its ability to store and discharge energy. When one of her creations upset her, the Empress would merely channel her power into the weapon and then slam it to the ground. The result was a small but painful shockwave, capable of knocking down its target.
YAZATA DISC-BLADE:
Several years ago, a strange phenomenon engulfed the skies across the Persian Empire. It seemed as though the heavens had cracked in places – and its pieces sent hurtling towards the Earth. When the dust had finally settled, the Island was riddled with small shards of metal, which were promptly gathered up and examined. Far stronger and more durable than anything the Empress had yet discovered, she immediately set about trying to put the material towards a more practical use. Because the supply was limited, she decided to forgo the creation of swords and axes, opting instead to carve thin slivers of the metal into razor-sharp discs. These devious weapons were capable of instantly killing opponents when thrown properly.
AGAS SWORD:
Not all who come ashore on the Island of Time arrive by accident. Those who know its secrets are sometimes tempted to try and claim its powers for their very own. One such unfortunate soul was Salar, a follower of the Agas, Demoness of Illness. He set sail for the Island with two dozen of his cultists, determined to pillage The Empress' library and claim its dark knowledge.
