Today's Dojo update is yet another brand-new stage for Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It's The Summit, the official stage of the Ice Climbers. The Summit takes place atop Icicle Mountain (The Ice Climbers' stage from Melee) at first seems to be a normal stage, with some friendly vegetables hanging around. However, the mountaintop then breaks off, and begins sliding down the mountain's face, finally hitting the ocean. Here, one of the Ice Climber polar bears will jump atop the now-formed iceberg, pushing it deeper into the water. Also, a giant fish will attack occasionally. Sakurai says he thinks he's seen the fish somewhere before, and he's right - it's the same giant fish from another classic NES game, Balloon Fight.
Looks like Nintendo has been outed on an upcoming holiday surprise. IGN has gotten their hands on a leaked flier from Sears which reveals that Nintendo has two new bundles for the DS Lite set for the holiday season, just in time for Black Friday in three weeks. First up is a metallic pink DS with a pink dog footprint emblem, packed in with the Nintendogs: Best Friends Edition (previously only available bundled with an original pink DS two years ago). The other bundle, however, is far more exciting: a metallic gold DS Lite with a golden Triforce emblem, bundled with The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. Both bundles will retail for $149.99. We expect to hear official word from Nintendo soon on when exactly we can expect these bundles to hit store shelves.

Today's Smash Bros. Dojo update reveals that an oldie but a goodie is making its way back for Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Classic Mode will be making a return, where players choose a character, then smash their way through various stages taking on a variety of opponents, each stage having a different theme. For example, the first stage will be based on Legend of Zelda. In other battles, players will team up with other brawlers against giant opponents, or battle metal opponents. You can also choose the game's difficulty level. Also, at the end of each battle, players will obtain coins, which you can save up. Sakurai that they are used for something, but not at a store - is the Trophy Lottery set to make a return?

Capcom and Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan have announced coproduction of "Resident Evil: Degeneration," the first full-length CG animation feature based upon the Resident Evil series of games and movies.
Resident Evil began as a hit international video game franchise created by Capcom, then made its debut on the silver screen as a live-action film distributed worldwide by Sony Pictures Entertainment. Resident Evil is the first trilogy of live-action movies to have come from a video game franchise. Capcom and Sony Picture's Japanese subsidiary SPEJ have teamed up to give birth to a CG-animated Resident Evil with groundbreaking visual effects and a brand-new story line.
The films "Resident Evil" and "Resident Evil 2: Apocalypse" have each grossed more than US$ 100 million at the Box Office internationally. "Resident Evil 3: Extinction" (debuting throughout Japan on November 3) has been the biggest hit of the series in the US to date, adding to the high performance and public support for this franchise.
The full CG animation feature "Resident Evil: Degeneration" is currently in production, with plans for a terrifying release in 2008.

Nintendo Celebrates Halloween with Three VC Releases [ Nintendo ]
Castlevania II Simon's Quest (NES, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone - Mild Fantasy Violence, 500 Wii Points): In this one-player adventure, you'll take on the role of Simon Belmont once again and duel to the death with Count Dracula. Grab your legendary whip, Vampire Killer, and roam freely through Transylvania on a quest to find the count's missing body parts-these are the key to breaking an evil curse. This quest won't be easy, though, for you must battle hideous fiends who stalk the land. In addition to the intense action and tight control the Castlevania series is known for, this sequel also introduced several unique game-play elements into the fold. Build experience the longer you play, buy weapons and items from merchants, or talk with villagers to get clues (some of which are false). Watch as day turns to night and then back again. Take a deep breath, steady your nerves, and help Simon end his curse and defeat the count once and for all.
SAMURAI-GHOST (TurboGrafx16, 1 player, Rated E10 for Everyone 10 and Older - Animated Blood and Violence, 600 Wii Points): This action platformer features a samurai ghost from the depths of the underworld. In a past war, Kagekiyo managed to defeat the shogun Yoritomo and his clan. However, their evil spirits were not completely destroyed, and now, in the world known as Dark Side, they seek the time of their rebirth. In order to shatter those ambitions, Kagekiyo must make his way across seven zones and head for "The Heart of the Darkside" where Yoritomo lies in wait. Use spirit weapons to power up your sword, or other items, such as candles to recover health, and defeat the endless hordes of enemies. Each zone is not only protected by a boss but also includes demons as well as real samurai from 12th-century Japan. Get ready for some intense one-on-one combat action.
MAGICIAN LORD (NEOGEO, 1-2 players, Rated T for Teen - Blood and Fantasy Violence, 900 Wii Points): Released in 1990 and regarded as one of the NEOGEO's earliest signature games, this side-scrolling platformer mixes action with the mystical world of fantasy. A magician named Elta, last descendant of the famed Magician Lord, takes on an epic adventure to save the world from the evil Gul-Agieze. Elta must battle through eight stages, collecting the eight tomes of power that are key to defeating Gul-Agieze and his evil plans. By obtaining orbs in one of three colors (elements) that appear during the game, Elta's offensive powers and jumping abilities can be strengthened. The effect varies considerably depending on the combination of elements, though, and Elta can transform into six different forms: Waterman, Dragon Warrior, Shinobi, Samurai, Raijin or Poseidon. Can you help Elta to become the new Magician Lord?
As if there wasn't enough reasons why Super Smash Bros. Brawl is turning into one of the greatest games of all time, the Dojo has let loose yet another major announcement about the game - the new Stage Builder. In this mode, Smash fanatics can create their very own stages to battle on using various backgrounds, platforms, obstacles, and other elements. You can even select the music for your custom stages - however, you are limited only to songs that you have unlocked within the game.
All that is awesome in and of itself, but the Stage Builder mode gets even better with the numerous ways one can share their custom stages. As well as being able to save the stages to the Wii's system memory, players can also save them to SD cards for additional space, or to bring their stages to a friend's. Also, players can send stages over Wi-Fi to friends that are registered with both a Wii system code and a Smash Bros. Brawl friend code. Last but certainly not least, players can use the "Submit" option to send their stages directly to Nintendo once per day. Nintendo will choose one stage from the submissions, and will send it to all Smash Bros. players for everyone to check out. However, the stage will disappear after one day, so be sure to get your fill of it. You can also submit snapshots using the "Submit" option.
Sakurai does state that this is only the current plan and things are subject to change. However, it's looking right now that this Super Smash Bros. Brawl could become the ultimate multiplayer game of this generation. Check out some screens of the new Stage Builder mode below.

Smash Bros. Update - King Dedede's Special Moves [ Smash Bros. Dojo ]
As expected with Thursday's announcement of King Dedede as a playable fighter, today's Dojo update deals with the special moves he'll have available for Super Smash Bros. Brawl. His up special is the Super Dedede Jump, which can also be used as a recovery move. Dedede executes a massive leap into the air, then crashes his mallet into the ground, causing damage to all in the area. Dedede is extremely vulnerable upon landing, but you can rectify that by canceling the attack by pressing down on the control stick. Canceling the attack too close to the ground, however, will leave you open to attack even longer, so watch out.
Dedede's side special is the Waddle Dee Toss, where he'll pull out a Waddle Dee (a common Kirby enemy) and toss it at an opponent. The Waddle Dees then waddle around the stage for a few seconds. Dedede can also pull out a cyclops-like Waddle Doo or a spiked Gordo on occasion, which does more damage.
Lastly, Dedede's down special move is the Jet Hammer, where his mallet pops open to reveal a large rocket engine inside. The attack can be charged up, and will unleash a mighty flaming strike on any opponent. You can also move around while the attack is charging, but you cannot save the charged attack by hitting the shield button, like with other characters. Also, charging up the attack too much will damage Dedede as well, so watch out.
Check out some screens of King Dedede's moves below.
SEGA is excited to announce that they are bringing back Samba De Amigo, the Dreamcast classic that helped to create the now-popular rhythm music genre. Created exclusively for the Wii, this vibrant and addictive new game lets players shake to the beats of a samba-infused soundtrack comprised of popular new songs as well as fan-favorites from the original game. The game is being developed by Gearbox Software, best-known for the long-running Brothers in Arms series of first-person shooters.
Playing as the grinning, sombrero-topped monkey, Amigo, players shake the Wii Remote and Nunchuk like maracas, in time with the visual beats of the music on-screen. The perfect party game, Samba De Amigo is packed with lively stages and a host of colorful characters. More details about this exciting new title including a full song listing as well as new special features will be revealed over the next few months.

It's that time again, as the Dojo's latest update is all about a brand-spanking-new playable character making his debut in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. This time, it's King Dedede, best-known as the main adversary of Kirby in pretty much every single one of his games. Of course, Dedede will be armed with his trademark mallet, which he can use the whack the ever-loving snot out of anything that stands in his way. He'll be a powerhouse character ala Bowser and Donkey Kong, so while not exactly fleet of foot, he'll have more than enough strength to take on all comers in the Smash arena.
Check out some art and screens of Dream Land's self-proclaimed king below.

Today's Smash Bros. Update is the return of another popular Super Smash Bros. mode, Target Smash. Like in previous games, the object of the mode is to destroy every target on the stage in the fastest amount of time. However, this time around there won't be a specific stage for each character, but rather 5 stages altogether, with varying levels of difficulty, which you can play on as the character of your choice. The maps are now outside (for a better visual appeal), and as usual, pausing the game gives the player a full view of the entire stage.
Even better, Sakurai takes this time to announce another new feature for Brawl: video replays. Players can now record not only their best Target Smash times, but three minutes of regular brawls as well, and can send them to their buddies over Wi-Fi via their Wii Friend List, or save them to an SD Card or to the Wii's system memory.
The Dojo update for today is a brand-new cutscene from the game's Subspace Emissary adventure mode. The scene features both Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong trying to protect their banana horde from an interesting opponent - Bowser's hordes?

Today's Dojo update features what may very well be the strangest stage yet for Super Smash Bros. Brawl - PictoChat. Taken from the DS feature of the same name, the stage is pretty much what you'd expect, as four players do battle in a giant PictoChat box. Of course, stuff will be drawn in and erased as the players do battle, such as flames, blowing wind, a whale, and various other types of terrain. Also, the handy text box at the bottom says when players are leaving or coming into the stage. Last but not least, there's a wide variety of music players can use on the stage, including songs taken from the Mii Channel and Wii Shop Channel.
Check out the PictoChat stage with some screens below.

Lunar Pool (NES, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone, 500 Wii Points): Lunar Pool takes the historical game of billiards and reinvents it with a unique and futuristic flair. The rules are simple: All you need to do is use your cue stick to hit the white cue ball, causing it to hit the other numbered balls and make them go into the pockets. You can enjoy nearly unlimited game play with 30 tables, two different ball arrangements, and the ability to change the degree of friction on the table. You can play against a computer or another human player, so try challenging someone once you've got the hang of the game.
Ninja JaJaMaru-kun (NES, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone, 600 Wii Points): Take on the role of a ninja called JaJaMaru and rescue the captured Princess Sakura from the evil Namazu Dayuu in this action-packed game, previously unreleased outside of Japan. JaJaMaru must use his throwing stars to defeat the monsters lurking in each of Dayuu's many hideouts. JaJaMaru has to be careful though, as each monster has its own unique weapon and method of attacking. The only way for him to advance is to break the floor bricks above him and move up and down between the levels of each round, defeating monsters as he goes. To help him, broken bricks sometimes reveal items that JaJaMaru can use to his advantage, possibly leading to the ultimate power-up: a ride on Gamapakun, the giant frog. Throw in some bonus stages and you've got a game with a style all its own.
Golden Axe III (Sega Genesis, 1-2 players, Rated E10 for Fantasy Violence, 800 Wii Points): The once-peaceful kingdom so familiar to fans of the original Golden Axe is under threat once again. In this one- or two-player action game, play as a giant, a panther or a sword-wielding human and fight your way to victory once again.

It’s finally time to experience the magic of Okami as it was always meant to be played. Capcom’s award winning game is set for release on the Wii home video game system in Spring 2008. Featuring a re-imagined control scheme built around the intuitive Wii Remote, Okami offers players an unparalleled level of control and an opportunity to rediscover a critically-acclaimed and beautifully crafted adventure.

By enhancing the unique gameplay, visual style and story line of Okami with the control of the Wii Remote, it is sure to be the ultimate version of the game.

Throughout the vibrant and distinctive surroundings, players must use the Wii remote to interact with a dynamic world and cast of characters. The blend of stylized graphics, movements and unique gameplay will result in a rich and dynamic experience never seen before.

Today's Dojo update features the Final Smash of Princess Peach, the Peach Blossom. When Peach grabs a Smash Ball, she begins dancing as the screen frame changes to pictures of her. Then, everyone falls asleep as peaches (the fruit, not the princess) fall from the sky. Then, all opponents fall asleep, and Peach can either eat the peaches (to restore health), or gleefully smash her opponents away.
One must be wondering what Sakurai was smoking when he thought up this one.
Nintendo fans have reason to celebrate, as Capcom has announced that they will be porting the critically-acclaimed PS2 action-adventure game Okami to the Wii. Fans have wanted a Wii version of the title for since the game released last year, due to how the game's drawing aspect plays in with the Wii Remote. Using different drawing motions within the game, players can interact with the world, like repairing bridges or attacking enemies. The game also uses a very unique cel-shaded visual style, and is highly based upon Japanese mythology.
The port is being handled by Ready at Dawn Studios, best known for their work on the PSP game Daxter and the upcoming God of War: Chains of Olympus. It's set to be released sometime next year.

Punch-Out! fans have reason to rejoice today, as Little Mac, the legendary player character from the classic NES title, will be making his Smash Bros. debut. Problem is, he won't be a playable character. Instead, Little Mac will be one of the many Nintendo characters that can be released from Assist Trophies. Although small in stature, Mac will quickly rush forward and attack the nearest opponent with two quick jabs, finishing him with his trademark jumping uppercut. His design is also based upon his appearance in the original Punch-Out!, not his later appearance in Super Punch-Out!
Check out some art and screens of Little Mac in action below.
The Dojo has another two-for-one update today, detailing two new features for Super Smash Bros. Brawl. First up, Meowth will be making a return as one of the many Pokémon that will pop out of the Pokéball item, after sitting out Super Smash Bros. Melee. Like in the original Smash Bros., Meowth will use his Pay Day attack, tossing coins at unsuspecting opponents.
Second, Sakurai has finally detailed just how players will be able to play the game simply using the Wii Remote by itself. As shown, the game is played with the Remote turned on it's side (classic position), with the D-Pad controlling most movement. Pressing left or right on the pad moves the player in that directing, with a double tap making the character run. Pressing up executes a jump, with down exectuing a crouch. The 2 button is the primary attack button, while 1 executes special attacks in conjunction with motions on the D-Pad. The A button is used for taunting, the B button activates the shield, and last but not least, the - button executes a grab. Players can also execute smash attacks by either pressing the 1 button with forward on the D-Pad, or hitting the 1 and 2 buttons together.
Also, Sakurai has a little note about Smash Balls. As has been reported, Smash Balls must be attacked before they can be collected, so all players should make a point to go after the item once it appears. Once it is obtained, executing a normal special move unleashes the Final Smash.
Also, fans who are attending the E for All expo should take note of the Wii Remote's configuration when playing the game - it will be the only way to play when it is shown off this week.
Great news for fans of Melee today, as the Dojo has confirmed that the popular Home Run Contest will be making its return in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Once again, the object of the contest is to beat up the sandbag as much as you can in the ten seconds allotted, then grab the Home Run Bat and smash the sandbag to get the longest distance. In Brawl, however, the contest will be going through a few changes. First, there'll be a shield around the launch pad, making it easier to smash the crap out of Sandbag without worry of falling. Second, there will be different forms of multiplayer. Players can either go co-op and take out Sandbag together, or they can play alternating to see who gets the greatest distance. Also, both of these multiplayer modes will be playable online and off as well.
Even better, the Home Run Contest is listed as a "Stadium" event, so likely there's more minigames like this to come.
TNA Wrestling is the fastest-growing wrestling organization in the United States, and Midway has officially announced a TNA game set for May for this year, coming to the Wii. While little is known about the game, it will feature over 20 TNA wrestlers including Sting, Jeff Jarrett, Kurt Angle, A.J. Styles, and Samoa Joe, as well as several TNA trademarks such as the league's unique six-sided ring, and match types like the Six Sides of Steel and Ultimate X matches. Check out the first screens, a trailer, and a special making-of video below. The videos are in .wmv format, so you need to download them to your hard drive to view them.
Everything you love about Mario Party...in the palm of your hand! The party boards and minigames are crazier than ever in a new title that shrinks down the whole Mario crew for whimsical party play.
With 70 minigames and five themed game boards, Mario Party DS packs all the goods for portable play. And it’s brought to life with fun surprises players can see only on Nintendo DS, such as touch control, microphone control and dual-screen challenges. Users can play as one of eight characters: Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Peach, Daisy, Toad, Wario and Waluigi. They’re all ready to foil Bowser’s latest scheme. He seeks five powerful crystals and shrinks down the crew so they can’t stop him. But each of the tiny heroes wants to be the one and only Superstar that brings down Bowser.
Mario Party DS makes the series’ multiplayer action portable at last, from playing with friends on the game boards to challenging them in favorite minigames. And now players can throw a party anywhere and play wirelessly with friends, since much of the game can be shared to other Nintendo DS systems from just one game card.
Did you know Nintendo DS was magic? It is now, as Master of Illusion first teaches users how to perform incredible magic and card tricks, then acts as an assistant as they perform for others. Once users learn how to secretly read the enclosed cards, they'll become master magicians in no time.
Master of Illusion puts an entire magic show in the palm of your hand. Master of Illusion contains step-by-step tutorials on more than 20 different tricks, allowing budding magicians to master the nuances of performance long before show time. Tricks use all facets of Nintendo DS – magicians will draw faces that speak the name of the audience's card, or audibly instruct a dog to fetch a selected item. There are also several solitaire games for downtime between performances. Amaze, and be amazed! Many of the tricks are auto-performing, so users will be wowed long before they learn how it's done. Once they do, they can hand the DS off and watch others be amazed as well.
Check out the game's official boxart and logo below.
Take command with the Wii Remote and Nunchuk: Command and control everything from tanks and helicopter gunships to naval battleships and submarines, and deploy an array of different soldiers. Connect to Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection to battle against other players all over the world, or join with friends to play co-operatively. Battalion Wars 2 features three multiplayer modes and 16 unique multiplayer levels. Battle head-to-head in the skirmish and assault modes or team up with another player in co-op mode.
Tactics are everything: Players control every aspect of the battle as they command units, capture facilities and advance toward their primary objectives. When not actively commanding, players can take direct control of any soldier or vehicle in the field and leap into the fray. Combat rages on land, sea and air as players command six different armies through five theaters of war, each with its own unique commanding officers.
The game launches at the end of the month, but you can check out some new screens below

New Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn Artwork [ Nintendo ]
Two groups dominate the storyline: the Dawn Brigade, made up of Micaiah, Sothe and other new characters, and the Greil Mercenaries: Ike, Mist, Shinon, Rolf and other familiar faces from Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. Additionally, the laguz characters from Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance return. Ranulf, of the beast tribe, is joined by the new Skrimir. The leadership of the other tribes also appear in critical roles. Zelgius, who (as the Black Knight) killed Ike's father, returns in his true identity as one of the primary antagonists.
In addition to the traditional game play seen in previous Fire Emblem games, Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn introduces new strategic elements. For example, the magic system from Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance now includes elemental magic that follows the "trinity of magic" from earlier Fire Emblem games. Players familiar with the series remember that healing units and untransformed laguz were unable to counterattack when struck by foes. Now, these units have a special move that can be used only when attacked. These units can defend themselves, even if they cannot initiate an attack.
New skills customize units with special abilities that allow them to attack multiple times, move through foes (who typically block the path) and much more. Skills can be assigned to any unit, but because each unit can have a limited number, players will need to be careful in how they assign them. Additionally, the game now includes a terrain-height system that allows characters to move from low ground to high (on certain levels). High ground features special advantages against foes below.
Check out some new character art from the game below.
It's time for a new stage to be revealed in today's Smash Bros. Update, and it turns out it's the official stage of Lucas, New Pork City, taken from Mother 3. The stage is massive in size and scope - comparable to the Legend of Zelda Temple level from Super Smash Bros. Melee, says Sakurai. It's so large, it's easy for enemies to run away, making it like a giant playground. Also, periodically, a massive monster called the Ultimate Chimera will make an appearance on stage. Touching it means instant death, so watch out!

Nintendo Shows Off New Vision With Flash Focus [ Nintendo ]
The new Flash Focus: Vision Training in Minutes a Day is like nothing you've ever seen before. Just as Nintendo's brain-training games gave your gray matter a workout, Flash Focus aims to train users' eyes in areas like hand-eye coordination, peripheral vision and visual acuity. It launches today, exclusively for Nintendo DS.
It might sound like a strange concept, but top athletes have long used high-tech computerized visual training programs to give them an edge on the baseball diamond, basketball court and football field. Now Nintendo makes this remarkable technology available to anyone who wants to have fun while tracking improvements in the various visual exercises. It's a great tool for moms who like to keep a "peripheral vision" watch on their kids or for people who want an edge spotting holiday sales.
The first time users pop in Flash Focus: Vision Training in Minutes a Day, they take a series of tests to determine their DS Eye Age. As users spend a few minutes each day with the activities, they get better and better at the exercises and their Eye Age lowers to demonstrate their improved focus abilities.

Advertising Age, one of the longest-running marketing publications in the country, has officially named Nintendo as its "Marketer of the Year" for 2007. The company beat out marketing luminaries such as Apple, Nike, and Al Gore (yes, Al Gore) for the honor. AdAge praised Nintendo specificially for the Wii console, saying it has "broke open a market long confined predominantly to young men and welcomed in the rest of the family."
In the article, there's an interesting statement from Nintendo's Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Affairs, Perrin Kaplan. She states that most gamers, before they played Wii, were "bored and didn't know it yet". Thanks a lot, Perrin, for the insight.
Anyway, congratulations to Nintendo's marketing team on a job well done. Who's up for some coffee at Reggie's house?

Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos (NES, 1 player, rated E for Everyone - Mild Violence, 500 Wii Points): In Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos, a new villain, Ashtar, is revealed. Take on the role of Ryu Hayabusa and rescue Irene Lew, a former CIA agent, from Ashtar. Destroy the Sword of Chaos, a weapon of great power forged from the bone of a demon. Use techniques such as the Fire Wheel or the Windmill Throwing Star and attack while holding on to walls and ladders. Use the most innovative technique of all - the ability to create Shadow Clones, orange shadow versions of Ryu that will constantly follow him, repeating previous actions (moving or attacking) in a delayed cycle. Once again defeat henchmen, creatures and bosses with new fighting techniques and even more weapons as you progress through multiple stages on your way to destroying Ashtar, Jaquio and the Realm of Chaos.
Metal Marines (Super NES, 1 player, rated E for Everyone - Fantasy Violence, 800 Wii Points): Set in the near future, most of Earth's land has been disintegrated in the chaos of the Anti-matter War. This real-time strategy game portrays the Colonies' Allied Force - the Metal Marines - in their epic struggle against General Zorgeuf and the Imperial Federation, who are bent on world domination. Commanding the Metal Marines across a series of battles, the player must strategically allocate resources, ready supplies, manage funds and move troops in an effort to outwit and outmove the opponent. The real-time battle system rewards split-second decisions and adaptability in the struggle for military superiority. Unlike most turn-based strategy games, Metal Marines engrosses the player in a fast-paced and frantic battle in which both sides advance simultaneously. A constant eye must be kept on enemy movements to maintain a formidable defense and not miss the perfect chance to strike. Strategic foresight and quick judgment hold the key to victory.
Gate of Thunder (TurboGrafx16, 1 player, rated E for Everyone - Fantasy Violence, 800 Wii Points): The legendary sci-fi shooter is back! Gate of Thunder is a horizontal side-scrolling shooter that places you in control of special undercover agent Hawk, whose mission is to stop the deadly army of Obbellon fighters. Jump into the action as Hawk gets aboard his ship, the Hunting Dog, and heads out toward the enemy. Blast through stages while effectively using all three of the weapons at your disposal and receiving support from ally Wild Cat ships. Switch through equippable power-up options on the fly to change the direction of your attack. You'll have to blast in front of and behind you to survive all seven stages. Hard-core shooting-game fans looking for a challenge can select HARD or DEVIL mode to experience even more intense action!
Huh? What? How the heck did we end up here? My head's killing me. No matter, we're back, and that's all that counts. Join us once again for another edition of Open Mic Night. Tonight we tackle a range of topics from Smash Bros. to Nintendo having $18 million to blow, and we don't even mention Manhunt 2. Hit the link and check it out. If we can't get away, you certainly can't either!
Fans of Super Smash Bros. Melee's Camera mode have reason to rejoice today, as the mode will find an enhanced version in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. By simply pausing the game, players can snap a photo of whatever they'd like by pressing a button. While players can save snapshots to the Wii's system memory, they can also save them to SD cards, if extra space is necessary. Even better, Wii owners can also send snapshots to their friends over Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, as long as they have each other's Brawl friend codes. Last but not least, another feature is still yet to be shown off for the mode, but Sakurai isn't ready to show it off yet. It may not even be in the final game, which Sakurai apologizes for in advance.
Oh yeah, and the game's been delayed until February 10th, and will be playable at E for All. Thanks, Masahiro!
Check out some screens below, including one of Link checking out Zelda's ass. Good times.
First George, then Beth, now we have confirmation from Reuters that the final piece in Nintendo's former circle of execs, Perrin Kaplan, is officially retiring from her post as VP of Marketing after 15 years with The Big N.
"I finally will be leaving Nintendo at the end of the year. Until then, I am focused on getting a great transition team in place and handling all of my normal responsibilities as well," Kaplan said in an e-mail to Reuters.
We here at Wii Café hold nothing but the highest regard for Perrin, as well as George and Beth. While it's a shame to see such great people go, we understand that it's well past due time for a change, both for Nintendo and these individuals. We wish them nothing but the best. Good luck to you, Perrin, and enjoy your retirement.
It's been a few years coming, but Nintendo has finally given Wars fans a new installment of the hugely popular Advance Wars series. Not much is known about the game other than the title, Advance Wars: Days of Ruin, and what the screens may reveal at this point, but we do know it's scheduled to launch January 21 next year. Other than that, you get to look at 15 new screens.
Link returns from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess to pick up the Wii Zapper and take aim at a host of targets in this shooting-gallery-style game. Link's Crossbow Training contains three basic game styles: target shooting, defender and ranger. There are 27 stages in total, and these categories represent only generally how each individual stage operates. Each stage's goal is to earn the highest score possible within the time limit. All rounds can be played with multiple players: Players pass the Wii Zapper around and then play one at a time and compete for the high score.
No, this isn't today's Smash Bros update, it's just four new screens and a teeny tiny boxart from Nintendo. The screens show some cool things like Giga Bowser in action and the Cracker Launcher. Check em out.

EA Picks Up Bioware and Pandemic Studios [ Electronic Arts ]
Electronic Arts Inc. today announced an agreement with Elevation Partners to acquire VG Holding Corp. -- the owner of both BioWare Corp. and Pandemic Studios. This acquisition gives EA a strong competitive position in key genres in interactive entertainment: action, adventure and role-playing games. The two studios have been recognized for creating some of the highest-quality games in the industry.
BioWare Corp. and Pandemic Studios have ten franchises under development, including six wholly owned games. BioWare Corp. is currently developing the highly anticipated Mass Effect, which will be published by Microsoft in November, and is in the early development stages of a massively multiplayer online game. Pandemic Studios is redefining open-world games with its upcoming Mercenaries 2: World in Flames and Saboteur, in addition to several unannounced projects.
Pandemic Studios and BioWare Corp. employ roughly 800 people across four studios located in Edmonton, Canada; Los Angeles; Austin; and Brisbane, Australia.
Pandemic Studios is led by Andrew Goldman, Josh Resnick and Greg Borrud. BioWare Corp. is jointly led by Greg Zeschuk and Ray Muzyka. These teams will join the EA Games Label run by Frank Gibeau, President of EA Games.
EA will pay up to $620 million in cash to the stockholders of VG Holding Corp. and will issue up to an additional $155 million in equity to certain employees of VG Holding Corp., which will be subject to time-based or performance-based vesting criteria. EA will also assume outstanding VG Holding Corp. stock options. In addition, EA has agreed to lend VG Holding Corp. up to $35 million through the closing of the acquisition.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl Officially Delayed [ IGN Wii ]
With all the good news coming out of Nintendo lately, you knew something like this was likely going to happen. Confirming suspicions brought on by a Japanese release delay and the deletion of the game's December 3rd release date at the game's official site, Nintendo has now confirmed to IGN that Super Smash Bros. Brawl's release has been pushed back two months to the new date of February 10th, 2008. While the delay is only a short one, it does leave Nintendo with only one major Wii game to carry it through the holidays, that being Super Mario Galaxy. Still, compared to the full year that The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess was delayed, two months shouldn't be a problem.
Stay tuned for more as it breaks.

Continuing from yesterday's announcement that Sonic the Hedgehog would be a playable fighter in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the Dojo's next update features his special moves. As you may expect, his side special move is his trademark spin dash, which allows him to run over other enemies. Players can tilt up on the control stick to rise into the air while performing the move, making it easy to link into combos. His down special move is another Sonic signature, the Spin Charge. Once again, Sonic rolls into a ball and can charge up, unleashing a mighty strike on all opponents in his way. Lastly, his up special move is the Spring Jump, previously thought to be an item. Sonic takes out a spring, seen throughout the Sonic games, and uses it to reach great hights, and as a recovery move. However, if it's used on the ground, other opponents can also use the spring.
Check out some more screens of Sonic in action below.
For those of you without the time or patience to listen to the English dub of Iwata's speech, I thought it'd be nice to let you know that he confirmed that Nintendo plans on launching the Mii Contest Channel (what we've known as Check Mii Out) and the Nintendo for All Channel, which will have DS demos and collect info from participating users about what Wii games are best for which players, will be launching in November. Presumably this is for Japan, but American and European versions can't be far behind.
English Nintendo Conference Now Available [ IR Webcasting ]
As expected, Nintendo has re-released their earlier webcast for last night's press conference in Japan, this time dubbed into English. Even if you saw it previously, the new English conference is worth a look, if only because you can now understand it. Click the source link to check it out.

New Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles Scans [ Famitsu ]
The latest issue of Famitsu magazine brings with it some new scans of Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles, revealing a new playable character for the game. It seems Albert Wesker, the series' legendary antagonist, will be a playable character in some form. The circumstances behind this are unknown, but the fact that we get to play as Wesker alone is looking to make this a must-have game.
Mario Kart Wii has already become one of the most anticipated games for the Wii, bringing with it improved graphics and Wi-Fi online play. Now, we know that different vehicles, including motorcycles, will be available for each character. Also, it appears players will be able to pull off tricks to get boosts, similar to the powerslides of old. Check out a ton of new screens for the game below. Mario Kart Wii releases sometime in 2008.
One of the surprising announcements last night at Nintendo's fall press conference was the announcement of Super Mario Stadium Baseball, the Wii sequel to 2005's Mario Superstar Baseball for the GameCube. The new baseball title will once again be developed by Namco Bandai, and will presumably include new characters and Wii Remote-based batting controls. And oh yeah, hopefully it will be online. Check out the first screens below.
It's been a long time since we've heard or seen anything in regards to Disaster: Day of Crisis, but that long wait now comes to an end. Although there's only three new screens, the game looks as it enticing as it did when it was first revealed at E3 2006. The gameplay features some first-person sections, and it also looks like some Trauma Center-esque doctor work might be a part of the game.
Slipping through the cracks last night, Nintendo confirmed that Kirby will once again be returning to the Nintendo DS for his third game on the dual-screened handheld. Kirby's Ultra Superstar Deluxe is a remake of Kirby's Superstar for the Super NES, and will also feature some new multiplayer-based minigames. Hopefully it will have online too. Screens below.
With all the talk about the Wii version of the game, it's surprising that Nintendo and Sega have kept relatively quiet on Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games for the Nintendo DS. Based on screens, it certainly looks impressive, however. You can expect plenty of touch screen-based Olympic fun when the game releases this November. For now, check out a couple of screens below.
We've heard very little about the sequel to the highly-rated Advance Wars: Dual Strike, released two years ago for the DS. Now, we can check out some screenshots for the game, which retains the same visual style and turn-based gameplay the series is known for. Here's hoping this one has Wi-Fi online battles, sorely missing from the previous installment.
One of the major new game announcements by Nintendo last night was that the Fire Emblem series of strategy RPGs would be coming to the Nintendo DS. Based upon screens of the game, it's looking like this is a remake of the very first Fire Emblem on the Famicom, which was also later remade on the Super Nintendo. This means that if this game comes to North America (which it likely will), Nintendo fans will finally learn the origins of one of Super Smash Bros.'s most popular characters, Prince Marth.
For now, check out some screens of the game below.

Capcom is pleased to announce the development of a new edition in its mega-hit Monster Hunter series: Monster Hunter 3 for the Nintendo Wii.
The Monster Hunter franchise is a series of action games that puts the player in the boots of a fearless hunter tracking down and battling huge and ferocious monsters all while traversing breathtaking natural environments. To date, the series has shipped over 4.5 million copies worldwide. The Monster Hunter Freedom series for the PSP makes use of Network Play to build upon the gaming experience, which has boosted its popularity, especially in the student market, and has also helped to make it the first PSP game to sell over a million copies in Japan.
Capcom has worked tirelessly on the latest title in the series, Monster Hunter 3, to utilize the unique aspects of the Nintendo Wii, which will create a Monster Hunter game unlike any of its predecessors. The attractiveness of the Wii experience is sure not only to please existing fans of the series, but also attract newcomers to this unique adventure.
As always, we at Capcom will continue to strive to develop new and original games that appeal to a broad audience around the world while expanding our properties for multiple platforms. We believe that by bringing the Monster Hunter series to multiple platforms, it will help the franchise reach an even greater number of users eager for its unique gameplay.

You've pleaded. You've prayed. You've desired it ever since the original back on the N64. Now, it's finally official. Sonic the Hedgehog, Sega's beloved mascot and one of the most popular video game characters of all time, will be a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
From a trailer also available on the Smash Bros. website, it looks like Sonic will retain his trademark speed (obviously), as well as signature moves like his Spin Dash attack. Also, it appears that a spring, seen throughout the Sonic games, will become an item for use within Brawl. Finally, it appears Sonic's Final Smash will be the ability to transform into Super Sonic.
However, that's not all! The Dojo also released a new gameplay trailer, featuring a ton of new footage. This provides the first time we've seen characters like Ike, Lucas, the Pokémon Trainer, as well as other new items, Final Smashes, and Assist Trophies in action, so definitely give it a look.
However, for all that good news, it looks like there's some bad as well. Nintendo has removed the December 3rd release date from the Dojo site, replacing it with a vague "TBD" date. Also, Sakurai hints that that there's still a little more development to be done, but he's "hoping to complete it without incident". Could this mean a North American delay for Brawl, mirroring the delay for Japan? We'll have to wait and see on that one.
For now, check out the first screens of Sonic below, and click the source link above to see both new trailers.

Nintendo Conference Report: Sonic Confirmed for Brawl! [ IGN Wii ]
Tonight in Japan, Nintendo held their annual fall press briefing, talking about the future plans for the Wii and Nintendo DS in the company's home country. The company announced a couple of new games, including a new Fire Emblem for the DS, as well as a Mario Superstar Baseball sequel for the Wii called Super Mario Stadium Baseball. The company also unveiled the first details on the WiiWare service, such as a new Pokémon game, Pokémon Farm, where players can upload their Pokémon from Diamond and Pearl and raise them on the Wii. Also, new versions of classic games Star Soldier and Dr. Mario will be available for download, and Square-Enix will be making an exclusive Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles for the service, entitled Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Young King and the Promised Land. The game will apparently have simulation elements as players can build their own countries. Also, a new DS Demo Channel was announced, where DS owners can download demos directly to their DSes through their Wiis.
Next, Nintendo made a couple of huge game announcements. First off, Capcom will be bringing the next installment of Japan's hugely popular Monster Hunter series, previously a PlayStation-exclusive franchise, to the Wii with Monster Hunter 3. However, the conference's big announcement was one we've waited for since the very moment that Super Smash Bros. Brawl was announced: Sega's franchise character, Sonic the Hedgehog will be a playable fighter. A new trailer was shown, which also shows that he can transform into Super Sonic - presumably his Final Smash. Also, Brawl will feature online co-op in some form, perhaps for the Subspace Emissary mode. However, Brawl will unfortunately see a minor delay in Japan, as it will be now be released on January 24th, 2008. Hopefully this will not affect the game's North American release date of December 3rd of this year.
Lastly, more info was revealed on Mario Kart Wii, as the game will apparently feature motorcycles as well as go-karts, and will release in the spring of 2008. Also, Wii Fit will launch in Japan on December 1st.
Stay tuned for more as it breaks. We fully expect tonight's Smash Bros. Update to feature Sonic (and maybe this new trailer), so expect that to come at the usual time of 3AM EST.

It's yet another double update over at the Dojo, with yet another of Super Smash Bros. Brawl's Final Smash finishing moves, as well as a new song revealed. Kirby's Final Smash, Cook Kirby, was seen in the very first trailer for the game, and transforms Kirby into his Cook form. A giant pot then appears, sucking in all opponents on the stage. After a bit of stirring and simmering, a bunch of random items pop out of the pot, and the opponents get blasted away.
As for the other update, Ashley's Theme, first heard in WarioWare Touched, will be heard in a new arrangement. Since the song has lyrics, two versions were recorded for the Japanese and North American versions, both of which you can hear by clicking over to the official Smash Bros. site.
To check out the screens of Kirby's finishing move, click below.

Donkey Kong Barrel Blasts Into Stores [ Nintendo ]
Nintendo has given some rocket-powered barrels to a bunch of apes, and the rest of you had better get out of the way. The high-octane Donkey Kong: Barrel Blast launches today exclusively for Nintendo's Wii system. It's a game that anyone can pick up and play, but racing fans will have - dare we say it? - a blast perfecting their moves.
Up to four players choose a racer from a variety of characters, including multiple members of the Kong family, as well as their friends and enemies. Racing is a snap. Players shake the motion-sensitive Wii Remote and Nunchuk to accelerate and turn, or press a button to jump, attack or use a variety of items to thwart their competitors.
Each of the 16 racecourses is littered with bananas. Gather 50, perform a Wild Move and watch your Barrel Rocket hit hyperspeed. The game even includes a variety of fun challenges for players to complete to receive special rewards.

Today's Dojo update has information on the special moves of Zero Suit Samus. Her standard move is the Paralyzer, which is a simple shot from her stun gun. It doesn't do any damage, but can leave the opponent open for attack if it is charged. Her side move is the Plasma Whip, which does heavy damage, especially if the opponents is struck by the tip of the whip. Lastly, her up special move, the Plasma Wire, lets her grapple opponents to pull them towards her, or also use it to recover by grappling edges.
The BBFC has rejected a revised version of the video game Manhunt 2. This follows the rejection of the original version of the game in June. The distributor had set in motion an appeal to the Video Appeals Committee against that decision, and this was suspended while the revised version was considered for classification.
David Cooke, Director of the BBFC said, “We recognise that the distributor has made changes to the game, but we do not consider that these go far enough to address our concerns about the original version. The impact of the revisions on the bleakness and callousness of tone, or the essential nature of the gameplay, is clearly insufficient. There has been a reduction in the visual detail in some of the ‘execution kills’, but in others they retain their original visceral and casually sadistic nature.
“We did make suggestions for further changes to the game, but the distributor has chosen not to make them, and as a result we have rejected the game on both platforms. The decision on whether or not an appeal goes ahead lies with the distributor.”
No word on any reaction from Rockstar yet. We'll continue to follow this case as always and keep you informed.
FATAL FURY (NEOGEO, 1-2 players, rated T for Teen - Violence, 900 Wii Points): Released in 1991 and one of the longest-running series in the fighting-game genre, this title introduced players to Terry Bogard, Andy Bogard and Joe Higashi. Select one of the three and visit many locations as your chosen fighter engages in numerous street fights around the fictional city of South Town. If you're good enough, you'll eventually take on Billy Kane and then his boss, the notorious crime lord Geese Howard. Use each fighter's own finishing maneuver and battle in two different planes on the screen, one in the foreground and the other farther away in the background. The game also features a two-player mode that is well known for its unique setup, which allows fighters to both fight and help each other. Do you have what it takes to win the King of Fighters tournament?
WORLD HEROES (NEOGEO, 1-2 players, rated T for Teen - Animated Blood, Violence, 900 Wii Points): A fighting game released in 1992 featuring eight characters, including Hanzo, Janne and Rasputin, modeled on historical figures from throughout the ages. The fighters compete against each other to become the world's toughest combatant, with players using a setup consisting of only three buttons (one each for punching, kicking and throwing). Adding to this unique system is the fact that the strength of your offensive blow depends on how long the button is pressed and held. Along with regular match styles, Death Match mode is also available and features mines, electrified ropes and other dangerous objects in the battle arena that can change conditions during the fight or damage players. Enjoy the wide range of combat forms as you take on history's best!
ART OF FIGHTING (NEOGEO, 1-2 players, rated T for Teen - Animated Blood, Violence, 900 Wii Points): This fighting game, released in 1992, began the story of the Sakazaki family and Robert Garcia, further developed in two later sequels. Yuri Sakazaki has been abducted by Mr. Big to punish her father, Takuma, and her brother, Ryo. To rescue her, Ryo and Robert must take on numerous enemies around South Town, eventually reaching the mysterious Mr. Karate. The passion of the game's creators is evident in the unique game-play elements introduced. These include an energy gauge that is depleted every time a fighter uses a special maneuver, Desperation Attacks that are usable only when a fighter's health is low and camera zooming that adjusts on the fly as fighters move around the stage. All these features ensure that players use strategy and tactics, rather than simply mash buttons. Adding to the mix are little touches such as characters showing cuts when they are injured and voice-over samples during cut scenes. Can you perfect the art of fighting and save Yuri?

Today's update over at the Dojo concerns the Subspace Emissary adventure game featured in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and confirms that two-player co-op play will be an option for the mode. The camera will only concentrate on the 1st player, but if the second player gets left off of the stage, they can simply press a button to teleport to where the first player is. The update reveals the Subspace Emissary map screen, and also shows that characters will form teams based upon story elements. In single player mode, players choose one character from a team, and when they die, can switch to another. However, in co-op, both players share the same amount of lives, so if one is knocked off the stage, it counts as a lost life.
Subspace Emissary will also have 5 difficulty settings: Easy, Normal, Hard, Very Hard, and Intense. Sakurai states that "the rewards will be greater" in the harder difficulties, so we can probably expect some unlockable stuff. Also, he hints there will be a method for players to power themselves up during the mode, which has never been seen in a game before. An explanation for this will come in a future update.
While it took a couple of days, Nintendo has now opened their free stylus offer for purchasers of The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. Simply sign up for My Nintendo (if you haven't already), register the game online, and fill out a quick survey, and Nintendo will send you a feather pen stylus absolutely free of charge. Click the source link to head on over to Nintendo's official site.

Majesco Entertainment Company today announced Nanostray 2 for the Nintendo DS. Developed by Shin’en and due out in early 2008, Nanostray 2 is the sequel to the first 3D shooter that launched for the handheld system in 2005.
A top-down, sci-fi shooter, Nanostray 2 features six game modes, including two-player co-op, two-player vs, Challenge (with 30 different missions) and the brand new Simulator (go high-score hunting in four futuristic games). With both horizontal and vertical viewpoints that offer more variety between levels, Nanostray 2 also includes multiple control schemes and configurable weapons that are a necessity to defeat the game’s 16 formidable bosses. In addition, players can upload their scores via Nintendo’s Wi-Fi Connection so they can see how they rank against the best.

Today's Smash Bros. Update is yet another double update, concerning one Smash feature we knew about, and one we didn't know. Shielding will be making it's return for the game, which, of course, depletes over time or when hit. Also, dodging, done by holding the shield button and pressing a direction on the control stick, will be back for the game as well.
Second is the Final Smash move for another character, Fox McCloud. His move, the Landmaster, allows him to summon the mighty Landmaster tank to run over everything in sight. Just like in Star Fox 64, players can roll the tank, hover, and fire its massive cannon, causing damage to all in the battle.

* Rocket to Victory! Target enemies with a Pineapple Cannon, skillfully chain together Wild Moves or use the Wii Remote to blast out of a Style Barrel. Multiple game-play modes, 16 awesome courses and a rollicking four-player multiplayer game will keep players coming back for more.
How to progress through the game:
* Grand Prix: Race solo in 12 different cups across a variety of courses and difficulty levels.
* Time Trial: Pick the course and try to set a new record. Players can even save their best times in the form of ghost data.
* Practice: Race across any track without the pressure of time limits or other racers.
* Candy's Challenges: Help out Candy Kong by taking on 32 unique challenges, such as grabbing 1,000 bananas, beating a course in a certain time or staying in first place wire-to-wire.
* Cranky's Flight School: Learn how to play from Cranky Kong himself.
* Multiplayer: Players take on up to three friends in a high-flying free-for-all as they bash, smash and rocket their way to victory. Multiplayer is not a separate mode; players can simply choose to play the other modes with additional people.

Special powers/weapons/moves/features:
* Wild Moves: Each course is littered with bananas. If players grab 50 of them, they can perform a Wild Move by pushing down on the control stick and then releasing it. Wild Moves propel racers forward at an insane rate of speed for a short period of time – they also allow them to run over enemies, other racers and most obstacles. Skilled players can extend the lives of their Wild Moves by hitting objects to create combos.
* Style Barrels: If players fly into a red Style Barrel, it will fire them high over the course. While in flight, an animation of the Wii Remote will appear on-screen and ask players to shake it in a certain direction. Each time players do so successfully, the rider will pose and get showered with bananas!
* Items: There are 15 crazy items that players can use – everything from offensive weapons like Backward Barrels and Pineapple Launchers to helpful power-ups like Banana Fairies and Crystal Coconuts. Using items effectively can turn the tide of a race.

Proof that you don't need to be 3D to be effective, the Excitebike...erm...guys will be making an appearance as an Assist Trophy in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Instead of being changed into a 3D form, they'll retain their original 2D pixelated look from the classic NES title as they ride around, causing mayhem for all on the stage. Excitebike won't be the only Assist Trophy to appear in 2D either, as Lakitu and his Spinys will also make their debut.
Nintendo has posted a few new vids of one of the most highly-anticipated games of the year, Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii. Chibi-Robo: Park Patrol - It's Good for the Environment! [ Nintendo ]
Nintendo is on a mission to make some locations - both virtual and real - a little greener. In honor of today's launch of Chibi-Robo: Park Patrol for the portable Nintendo DS, Nintendo is offering 500 tree seedlings to kids who want to help keep their environments clean and beautiful.
Chibi-Robo: Park Patrol is one of the first games based on the growing environmental movement, and it's a great way to get kids and their parents on a green path. In the game, players take on the persona of a cute little robot. They clean up a park by planting flowers, building park equipment and defeating toxic enemies called Smoglings.
Chibi-Robo: Park Patrol lets players use the Nintendo DS touch screen to control actions like watering plants, squirting enemies or riding a bike. Chibi's good deeds are converted into Happy Points that power him and the friendly toys he meets along the way. He even uses environmentally friendly modes of transportation to get around.
To get a tree seedling, register at Chibi-Robo.com between now and Nov. 9. Before America Recycles Day on Nov. 15, Nintendo will choose 500 people at random to receive a seedling that they can plant in their community.
The game is available exclusively at Wal-Mart.

Time for a brand new stage to be revealed over at the Smash Bros. Dojo, and this time it belongs to Snake. Shadow Moses Island, taken from the first Metal Gear Solid, pops you just outside a giant helipad, with walls to the left and right of you, preventing anyone from being knocked off the stage. You can destroy these walls with well-placed attacks, however. Also, a searchlight will seek out players, bringing up the Metal Gear Solid "!" sign above their heads when they are spotted. Finally, a giant Metal Gear robot will attack players from time to time - either Metal Gear REX from MGS1, or Metal Gear RAY from MGS2. Sakurai also states a third, newer Metal Gear will make an appearance - could it be a new model from Metal Gear Solid 4?
Last but not least, the Dojo has a few new videos taken from the stage, showing that Snake will have codec conversations with assistants such as Otacon, Mei Ling, and Col. Campbell during fights on the island. They're pretty funny, but let's hope they don't interrupt the action that much. Also, a new trailer featuring Snake has been posted on the site, with him showing off a few of his moves against Mario, and also confirming items like the Home Run Bat and Mr. Saturn will make appearances. To check these videos out, click the source link.
Check out some screens of Shadow Moses Island below.

Nintendo Offers Free Protective Jackets for Wii Remotes [ Nintendo ]
Nintendo announces the Wii Remote Jacket, a durable, silicone cover for the Wii Remote that provides a variety of benefits for the player. Nintendo will include the Wii Remote Jacket with all Wii hardware systems and with all Wii Remotes sold separately or packaged with Wii Play. Hardware featuring the Wii Remote Jacket will begin shipping to retailers on Oct. 2 and is expected to be on retail shelves the week of Oct. 15.
The Wii Remote Jacket provides cushioning for the Wii Remote for people who might accidentally throw or drop their Wii Remotes while playing games. Use of the Wii Remote Jacket is meant to supplement, not replace, the basic game-play instructions: keep a firm grip, don't let go of the controller, use the wrist strap and make sure your play area is free of people or objects. The Wii Remote Jacket also serves as a cover for the Wii Remote. Nintendo recommends players use the new Wii Remote Jacket as a cushiony shield, though the current Wii Remote is a safe product when used properly.
Current Wii owners who want to equip their Wii Remotes with the new Wii Remote Jacket free of charge can click here, or call 1-866-431-8367 to place an order. Nintendo will begin taking orders on Oct. 2, and Wii Remote Jackets will begin shipping the week of Oct. 15.
The Wii Remote Jacket is designed to be added and removed easily, in case users want to slip their Wii Remote into an accessory like the upcoming Wii Zapper.

Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass Sets Sail [ Nintendo ]
Today’s launch of The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass for Nintendo DS marks the arrival of perhaps the deepest, richest story ever to appear on a hand-held video game system. The game requires players to fill up the Phantom Hourglass with sand and give themselves enough time to delve deeper and deeper into the ultimate dungeon.
But what about people who haven’t played a Zelda game since the original on the NES in 1987? No worries. The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass has players navigate through the game using only the touch screen. Sliding the stylus swings hero Link’s sword, while tapping other characters starts conversations or battles. Players can even write notes on their maps to remind them of places they should revisit once they gain more items and experience.
If two players want to spend a little time together with The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, they have two options. If they’re in the same room, they can play over a local wireless connection. If they’re far apart, they can use their Internet connection to log onto Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection and battle in the two-player mode, which lets one player control Link while the other player controls the enemies who are after him.
Don't forget to register the game over at Nintendo.com after you pick the game up. Doing so nets you a free stylus shaped like a quill pen, similar to an item Link uses in the game.

This week two lost gems of years past make their way to the Virtual Console. First is Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels, the Japanese Super Mario Bros. 2, previously only released in the States under the SNES game Super Mario All-Stars. Next we've got Sin and Punishment, one of the last N64 games ever published, and one that never made it to the States, to the disappointment of many. This is a big day for you VC'ers, make sure you've got your points ready.
Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels (NES, 1 player, rated E for Everyone, 600 Wii Points): Originally released in Japan as Super Mario Bros. 2, this game has previously made only brief cameo appearances in the Western Hemisphere. Now available on the Virtual Console in all of its original splendor, Mario fans will appreciate the familiar look and feel of the game, while finding that its updated game play creates an entirely new challenge. No longer content just to wear different-colored overalls, Mario and Luigi also possess different skill sets: Mario can stop quicker, while Luigi can jump higher. In addition to the classic enemies already known to fans worldwide, there are also Poison Mushrooms, backward Warp Zones, and the occasional wind gust (which can help or hinder your progress) to take into account. And if that's somehow not enough, expert players can go looking for the game's secret worlds. So get ready to put your Mario skills to the ultimate test, and save the Princess again. Just don't be surprised if she's in another castle.
Sin & Punishment (Nintendo 64, 1-2 players, rated T for Teen – Blood, Fantasy Violence, Mild Language, 1,200 Wii Points): Created by the legendary development studio Treasure, this is a game that hard-core gamers and fans of Japanese imports recognize as one of the finest Nintendo 64 titles to have never previously reached North American shores. Its unique combination of English voice-overs with Japanese subtitles (preserved in this version) has only added to the enthusiasm for its eventual release here. Experience the frenetic pace of a classic shooter, while choosing from a variety of options and a number of different skill levels until you are ready to take on the full-blown challenge of Turbo Hard mode. Not to be outdone by the action, however, the intriguing story line gives the game its soul and draws you even further into the mix. Set in the near future, on an overpopulated Earth starved for resources, players uncover the intriguing mystery of two teenagers (Saki and Airan) and their battle against the Ruffians as they advance through level after level of nonstop action. Take a deep breath, gather your energy and prepare to see why this game is so highly praised.
It's time for yet another brand-spanking new character to be revealed over at the Smash Bros. Dojo, and this time it's Lucas. Who's Lucas, you may ask? He was the feature character in the Japan-only GBA release of Mother 3, the third installment of the series known as Earthbound here in the states. Like fellow Earthbound alum Ness, Lucas brings with him a bevy of psychic-based attacks, including what looks to be the return of Ness's popular PK Flash and PK Thunder attacks. However, Sakurai does state in the entry that Lucas could surpass even Ness himself...could this mean we've seen the last of Ness in the Smash Bros. series? Looks like we'll have to stay tuned.
For now, check out some art and screens of Lucas in action below.
