I'm no Formula 1 fan, but I do enjoy a good racing game, and F1 is doing the job. Its pick-up-and-play gameplay makes it tons of fun for anyone. The game offers two modes of handling: normal and simulation. Normal is much like an arcade game - steering is easy and going off the track won't make you lose too many positions. Simulation is extremely realistic. Just the slightest mistake in steering can cost you everything in a race. I prefer normal mode, but the nice thing about this game is that it offers both options.
The reviews I read before buying this game talked about its beautiful graphics. While the graphics do look nice (you can see reflections on your car, things flying by you in the mirrors), I didn't find them extremely impressive. The rain and weather effects, however, are absolutely gorgeous, as are the dust and smoke.
F1 offers lots of real drivers to choose from and all seventeen tracks. Racing is lots of fun. The crowds are cheering and a pit crew radio will alert you when you need to pull in or if there is a yellow flag. The in-game display is very helpful, showing your speed, laps, times, and position.
There are plenty of things to unlock. In single player is a challenge mode where you must complete certain racing goals in time. These will help you unlock tracks and race options (such as damage, flags, manual transmission).
F1 is a great racing game. Expect a review soon.
