THQ Ships Rocket Power: Beach Bandits

CALABASAS HILLS, Calif., November 18, 2002 - THQ Inc. (NASDAQ: THQI) and Nickelodeon today announced the release of Rocket Powerä Beach Bandits for Game Boy® Advance. Rocket Power Beach Bandits features the team from the popular Nickelodeon program of the same name as they skateboard and in-line skate their way through an action-packed adventure. “Rocket Power,” a top 10 rated show among kids 2-11, is produced by Klasky Csupo, creators of Nickelodeon’s long-running successful show, “Rugrats.” Rocket Power Beach Bandits is now available for Game Boy Advance, PlayStation®2 and GameCube™ at major retail outlets nationwide.

“Rocket Power is one of the most popular kids’ show on all broadcast and cable TV and has the number two Q-Score of all cartoon programming among kids 6-11,” said Peter Dille, Vice President, Marketing, THQ. “This proven brand appeal, combined with the growing number of Game Boy Advance owners, make Rocket Power Beach Bandits a hot holiday gift for kids.”

“THQ has captured the personality of the Rocket Power kids in this interactive tale of extreme sports heroes trying to save the beach in Ocean Shores,” stated Steven Youngwood, Vice President, Nickelodeon Media Products Group “Fans of the show can now ride a scooter, in-line skate and skateboard as Otto and Twister as they save Ocean Shores on their Game Boy Advance systems.”

In Rocket Power Beach Bandits for Game Boy Advance, the team is looking forward to the best summer yet—especially the Ocean Shores Surf Classic. But arriving at the beach, they discover the sand has been stolen by an evil businessman. Playing as Otto or Twister, gamers must use their extreme sports skills to battle the businessman’s robot minions throughout the areas of Ocean Shores, The Lakes, The Robot Factory and Mondo Mountain. The game features four humongous areas, extreme action gameplay styles, plus a hidden level in which the player can unlock Reggie. Popular characters from the TV show such as Eddie: Prince of the Netherworld and Mackenzie meet up with other characters including Lars, Tito, Ray and Officer Shirley.

The PlayStation 2 version of the same title also features two unlockable full-length Rocket Power television episodes.
